The artichoke (Cynara scolymus) is among the earliest plants on the Earth to be grown by humans and has been known for 2000 years. Theophrastus, a disciple of Aristotle, is among the first who described in detail the plant and its useful properties.The leaves of the plant and the dry extract, prepared from them contain substances of high biological value (caffeylquinine acids, cynarine, lutheoline, flavonoids) which have a favorable effect on liver functions.
